Dental Fillings and Root Canal Therapy
The dental cavities or dental caries is one of the most common dental disease in the world. As acid produced by bacteria present in your mouth break down the mineral content of the enamel, a black decay or hole can be observed at the affected surface leading to dental decay, caries, fracture of teeth, bad breath, sensitivity and pain and which can ultimately lead to irreversible loss of tooth structure and extraction. Different dental fillings or restorations such as amalgam, composite, glass ionomer (GIC) or resin can be done to remove the infected part of the tooth and restore it with tooth colored, high-strength permanent tooth fillings.
However, if the caries reaches the pulp it can cause dental pain and infection. In such circumstances root canal therapy (RCT) has to be done to remove the infected enamel, dentin and pulp; remove all the bacteria and infection followed by filling and cap placement. The root canal therapy (RCT) can reduce pain and swelling of the teeth and can prevent tooth extraction. It can be done as single sitting RCT or multiple visits, specialized endodontic therapy by endodontist which is almost painless. Our center is a specialized center with endodontist services for root canal treatment and other endodontic periapical surgeries (apicectomy, root end surgery, MTA placement, etc.).
